Colts' 2008 Should Be A Wild One
With injuries and age a factor, the jury is out on whether or not the Colts can get back to the Super Bowl. But there are a few reasons why this season's edition could be even better than 2006 when they won it all.
Peyton Returns
The Indianapolis Colts continued what has been, up to this point, an unsettled and unsettling preseason by taking fans to a new low Sunday night... but by Monday afternoon hope was already creeping back into the picture.
2008 Season Preview: Indianapolis Colts
This might be the best overall Colts' team of the Dungy era, but that doesn’t necessarily translate into the best record of that era.
Seeing Brady In Indy, Manning In New England
We asked WhatIfSports.com to turn their finely tuned simulators to this scenario: What would Tom Brady’s career look like in Indianapolis and what would Peyton Manning’s career look like in New England?
2007 Season Preview: Indianapolis Colts
It’s a good thing their offense can light it up, because the defense is undersized and underwhelming. Expect a lot of 35-27 games, and the Colts will win a lot more of them than they lose. They should comfortably win the weak AFC South, but the drive to win every game at all costs probably won’t be so strong now that they’ve won the ultimate prize.
2007 Draft Review: Indianapolis Colts
The champs reloaded with a pretty good draft considering they held the last pick in each round. Anthony Gonzalez is a great fit in their offense and is ready right away to fill the gaping hole at #3 WR.
2006 NFL Team Preview: Indianapolis Colts
Nobody likes to talk about it, but this team looks eerily similar to the 2002 St. Louis Rams. The 2001 Rams went 14-2 with the explosive #1 offense and a vastly improved defense. But in 2002 the team suffered an injury to its MVP QB, a down year from the running game, and a defensive regression back to average from being top 10. Those Rams went 7-9, a fluke year in a string of very strong contending seasons.
Post-Draft Anaylsis: Keeping Up With The Patriots
The Colts allowed a vastly superior running back in DeAngelo Williams be drafted just three spots ahead of them and settled for a player in Addai who is a second round talent at best. Addai never dominated in college and it will be the same story in the NFL even if he should stay healthy.
An Offseason In Indy
Things were looking a little bleak for the Colts after the smoke cleared from the opening salvos of the free agent signing period. Edgerrin James, the greatest back to wear a Colts uniform in the Indianapolis era, was headed to sunny Arizona. David Thornton, the 4th round pick made good and a leader on the revitalized defense of a year ago, was gone to the division rival Titans. Larry Tripplett had packed his bags and jetted north to ply his trade for the Bills.
AFC Divisional Playoff Preview
Football in January not only gives us a reason to drink alcohol and eat in excessive amounts, (while the only other reasons before that were made up to make ourselves feel better) it also provides us with that jolt of excitement that is lost only with age and the development of gray hairs and bellies not caused by pregnancy.
